Child Safe Standards

Are you aware of the Child Safe Standards?  Click here to find out if your organisation is  in Phase 1 or Phase 2 of the implementation.  Phase 1 organisations (includes Childcare) requirements were to be in place by 1 January 2016.

What is FAC???

FAC stands for Funded Agency Channel. It is the web portal for organisations funded by the Department of Health and Human Development.  Information about funding agreements and payments can be accessed here.  Neighbourhood Houses have to update committee member details, upload Financial Accountability Requirement (FAR) and complete the risk attestation on this site. The department is offering training on how to use this site generally the third Wednesday of each month (except June will be on 15 June)  Contact fac@dhhs.vic.gov.au to book.

Rate Capping Implications

No doubt you have all heard about council rate capping, also know as the Fair Go Rates System.  This will potentially impact on neighbourhood houses in a number of ways: reduced community grant pools, less frequent maintenance on council owned properties, possible cuts to operational funding.  Councils are already assessing their services as core and non-core.  We need to ensure that neighbourhood houses are valued and recognised as core services.  Now is the ideal time to strengthen the relationship with your local councillors and council staff.  Invite them to your AGM, Neighbourhood House week events, anything that you do...
