New program on visualizing networks

Link to youtube videoEvery nonprofit wants to be better at engaging new advocates and donors on social networks, but just which accounts actually influence people is different from which have the most followers - and is different on every topic.

The NodeXL social network analysis tool helps visualize who is having impact in social conversations and suggests a course of action for charities to shift their online conversations. Marc Smith of Connected Action is joining Steve Boland of Next in Nonprofits for a weekly review of nonprofit topics to understand who is making the most impact. Check out the first episode!

MCN Technology and Communications

Technology and Communications Conference logoThe Minnesota Council of Nonprofits hosts the Nonprofit Technology and Communications Conference each year, bringing the best in new ideas and tactics to improve nonprofit success.

This year, Levi Weinhagen of the Minnesota Council on Foundations is co-presenting a session with Next in Nonprofits on using podcasting to deepen engagement and increase mission impact. The session is early - so register and plan to get there ahead of the rush and be first in line for the coffee!

Want to know more about how all this podcasting stuff works? Listen to this conversation before attending the conference for a primer!

Collective philanthropy and common data

BRIDGE logoBRIDGE (Basic Registry of Identified Global Entities) is a new effort to improve how people across the globe access and share information about nonprofits, or non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Finding and supporting a specific cause has been an exercise is scattered resources in the past, but BRIDGE is hoping to streamline the process. International nonprofits will certainly want to be on board early, but nearly any charity will want to be sure their data is correct as this becomes a new standard.

Learn more at the BRIDGE site, and keep in touch with them on social media as the movement grows.
