2016 Membership and Sponsorship Drives
Underwood Hills Neighborhood Association is able to function and advocate on behalf of the neighborhood thanks to the generosity of our neighbors and neighborhood business sponsors. Membership and sponsorship run on a calendar year basis, meaning everyone is due to renew for 2016 if you have not yet done so this year. Please go to http://www.underwoodhills.org/join/ to renew your membership or join anew for 2016. Remember, you must be a current UHNA member to vote at the meetings. (If you are unsure of your membership status, email Ivy Way.)
We are actively recruiting sponsors for 2016! If you or anyone you know is interested in reaching our neighborhood of over 800 households on Atlanta's westside, please visit our website to learn more about the opportunities available to you.
Spring Park Clean Up
We are holding our Spring Park Clean Up on Saturday, March 12 from 9AM until 12PM at the Underwood Hills Park! We will be mulching, planting, picking up trash, and doing other things to beautify our neighborhood's green center. Come for 30 minutes or stay the entire time. Any and all help is appreciated. While we depend on volunteers for our park clean ups and other neighborhood beautification endeavors, we also need financial support. If you cannot attend the park clean up but would like to make a financial contribution to our Beautification Fund, please email us.
Play Group Easter Egg Hunt
The annual Egg Hunt will be Saturday, March 19th at 4:00 PM sharp. Please be prompt, as it is impossible to keep all the kids at bay... they want those eggs! We'll need at least one dozen filled eggs (per child) with age appropriate goodies dropped off at Macayla Peterson's house the week before. The age groups are 0-2, 3-5, 6 and up. Email Macayla with questions or for her address. We'll also need folks to help hide the eggs at 3:30 that afternoon.
UHNA Needs YOU!
UHNA would love to add some of our talented and passionate neighbors to some of our committees. The committees where we have specific needs are as follows, but we welcome involvement on any of our steering committees.
- Communications - web design, sponsor outreach
- Land Use and Planning - members to review developments and other planning related issues
- Traffic & Safety - neighborhood watch coordinator, traffic liaison to city
All of the Committees and the chair's email address are listed in the sidebar of this email.
The City of Atlanta Continues to Recycle Glass
City of Atlanta residents can continue to recycle glass at the curbside. This glass is brought to our Materials Recovery Facility (MFR) where it is then recycled. The City of Atlanta aims to be one of the nation’s top 10 cities for sustainability, and recycling plays a major role in achieving this goal.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the city’s curbside recycling program by placing recyclable material in their Cartlanta blue bins for weekly collection. Residents can place household glass, paper, cardboard, metal cans, lids, and hard plastic (labeled 1-5 and 7) in the Cartlanta bins without the need to separate.
Residents may also recycle at the following drop-off locations:
The first Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, 2715 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30305, (Corner East Wesley and Bolling Roads)
The second Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., at the Walden School, 320 Irwin Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30312, (Intersection J.W. Dobbs and Hilliard Streets.)
The third Saturday of the month City of Atlanta Recycle Day 9:00 a.m.-noon, The Mall West End, 850 Oak St. SW, Atlanta, GA 30310.

This program rewards residents who recycle properly with points that may be redeemed at participating restaurants and shops throughout the city, saving residents up to $300 per year.
