SOUL-FI Accelerator - Round B2 is the last!

30 September 2015 was the closing date of the last call of the SOUL-FI accelerator that offers:

  • Co-funding of 75% of the project budget, with a maximum contribution of € 75 000
  • A wide range of free support services to speed up the development process (tutoring, mentoring, matchmaking and networking)
  • Access to a pro-active, networked environment to get connected with investors, potential customers and stakeholders
  • Negotiation of possible large-scale testing of the product through in situ pilots in different EU cities (Florence, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Valladolid and Birmingham) and access to specific typology of open data
  • Identification of additional funding (investment readiness path, crowd-funding, fundraising support).
 

SOUL-FI Round B2: profile of applicants


At the final cut-off date of the SOUL-FI accelerator programme on 30 September, an impressive total of 205 eligible submissions were received.

As in the earlier three rounds (A1, A2 and B1), the highest number of applications came from southern European countries, with Italy in top position with 50 candidates, followed by Spain with 41, Portugal 31 and Greece 16. The United Kingdom was in fifth position with 14 applications. Over half of the applicants’ projects focus on “Quality of Life” and “Mobility”, while the rest are working in the tourism, environment, energy and “other” sectors or even multiple sectors. Among the 205 projects, some 85% are promoted by SMEs and 15% by web-entrepreneurs.

FRI starts acceleration program for Round B2 winners

On 21 February, the Foundation for Research and Innovation of the University of Florence hosted the kick-off session of the Italian projects awarded under SOUL-FI's Round B2. All the participants presented, by means of a pitch, their business as well as their project which was selected under the call.
IPN brings together European start-ups with innovative ideas in the area of Smart Cities

54 FIWARE projects, 15 of which Portuguese, were presented to investors and municipalities on 3 February in Coimbra.

The event fi@Coimbra took place on 2-3 February at the Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN, Coimbra*Portugal). The initiative aimed to present to investors and municipalities more than 50 European start-ups which came together to share their innovative projects based on FIWARE technology in the area of smart cities.
