The Sexual Assault Resource would like to thank you for your continued dedication to helping survivors of sexual violence across the Brazos Valley. We would like to invite you to share your news, events, or updates each month with our community in support of partnerships in the Brazos Valley. Please remember that all of our services are completely free and confidential to all survivors and their support systems (families, friends, etc) at any point in their healing journey. Once again, thank you for your ongoing support and we hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!

September is...

September 10th: World Suicide Prevention Day

Suicidal thoughts can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or background. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people and is often the result of mental health conditions that effect people when they are most vulnerable. Suicidal thoughts and suicide occur too frequently but should not be considered common and can indicate more serious issues. In many cases the individuals, friends and families affected by suicide are left in dark, feeling shame or stigma that prevents talking openly about issues dealing with suicide.

Crisis and Information Resources

  • I'm in crisis or am experiencing difficult or sucidal thoughts: National Suicide Hotline 1-800-273 TALK (8255)
  • I'm looking for more information, referrals or support: NAMI HelpLine 800-950-NAMI (6264)

If you or someone you know is in an emergency, call The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or call 911 immediately.

SARC is looking for community members to host screenings of "Audrie and Daisy" from September through November!
AUDRIE & DAISY is an urgent real-life drama that examines the ripple effects on families, friends, schools and communities when two underage young women find that sexual assault crimes against them have been caught on camera. From acclaimed filmmakers Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk (The Island President, The Rape of Europa), AUDRIE & DAISY -- which made its world premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival -- takes a hard look at American's teenagers who are coming of age in this new world of social media bullying, spun wildly out of control.

If you are interested in hosting a screening and discussion of "Audrie and Daisy" please contact our Program Director, Tracey Calanog, at tcalanog@sarcbv.org
