Marty's Message

Guest column by School of Education student Elizabeth O'Leary

The School of Education Okray Colloquium was held on February 23 in the Dreyfus University Center Theater. This year we had the honor to have Curtis Chin, a documentary film director, present his movie Tested and then have an open discussion with him.

In the discussion, Mr. Chin talked about his experience researching and directing the film. He hit on different cultural biases he had experienced as an Asian American in the film industry, the different biases of the test, the public school system, and our society.

Mr. Chin’s passion for social justice helped me and my classmates become better, more culturally aware teacher.  As future teachers, we are so grateful for this gift from the Okray family.
