On Tuesday, March 8, Issaquah PTSA and Issaquah Council Parent Ed teamed up to host a Parent Education event in the auditorium which was both eye-opening and informative. Dr. Laura Kastner spoke about teen and family anxiety -- a topic that hits close to home for many parents.

Attendance was good, QA was thoughtful and engaging, and Dr Kastner’s presentation was extremely informative. She delivered comprehensive information at a pace that everyone could absorb, speaking in detail to each slide, and answering every question from the audience, Dr. Kastner was also able to take more questions one-on-one after the formal presentation had concluded.

We appreciate our Parent Education team Jana White and Kristen Allen Bentsen for organizing this free-to-the-public event.
Angel Closet is looking for Prom dress donations as well as any suits or tuxedos. Your gently used, fashionable formal wear will be a delight to a recipient who might not be able to afford these garments.

You can drop off your donations with Lisa Hollingsworth at hollingsworthl@issaquah.wednet.edu or call her at 425-837-6012

Dear Issaquah High School PTSA Community,

As many of you know we have a bond in the Issaquah School District we will be voting on, on April 26th. Our school district is growing 500 students a year which is equivalent to an elementary school a year and we need more room for these students! Our PTA, along with all of the other PTA’s in our school district have voted to endorse this bond.

We have many different things we are doing to get the word out in regards to the bond. It takes a village to get the word out. Some of the ways we are getting the word out is through honk-and-waves, putting up signs, literature drops and sending out postcards.

On Wednesday, March 30th we will be having a gathering to put the labels on postcards that we as a PTA send out to promote the bond and encourage voters to vote yes.
Depending on the number of people who can help it shouldn’t take very long but will also just be a fun way together!

Below is also a link to help with honk and waves.  Honk and waves are where we stand out on the streets on two days to encourage people to fill out their ballots and vote yes.
                                http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c084eabae2aa0f94-2016
The days that have been picked are April 7th (this is the day voters should be receiving their ballots in the mail) and April 25th (the day before ballots need to be mailed). There are morning shifts and afternoon shifts!  Please spread the word as the more people we have, the more fun it is and also draws more attention to what we are promoting. Our location will be at the corner of Sunset and Front Street.

We also have literature that we are placing on people’s doorsteps.  It is super easy and something you can have your kids help you with. The goal is that people will sign up to deliver this literature close to where they live to make it easier for you. Remember your kids can get community service hours for honk and wave and helping with the lit drops!
