Lavender Trail Meeting for Manoora

A Community meeting has been called for residents in the area of the proposed trail to come and talk with the Lavender Federation Trail developers to find the nicest and best way for the trail to advance from Webb Gap through to Manoora and on to Clare. The flier says it all.

Additionally all are welcome to the 'Crossing of the Heysen Trail and Lavender Federation Trail at Webb Gap on the 17th April (A flier should be in the next newsletter)

Serious Vehicle Accident near Robertstown

On March 2nd at 20:58 a report online told of how Eudunda, Robertstown, Tothill and Ryhnie CFS together with SAPOL and SAAS attended a two car vehicle accident north of Point Pass. The main road from Point Pass to Robertstown was closed for a considerable time.

With one severely injured driver allegedly leaving the scene, and the other driver being airlifted to Adelaide the region is once again devastated that this could happen here. We wish the injured persons a speedy recovery, and again thank our local and neighbouring volunteers and service personnel for thier work.  If anyone has information about this accident please contact Eudunda Police (08)85811100 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.

Eudunda a bit tidier after Clean Up Australia Day

ECBAT invited all residents to come participate in this Nationally celebrated annual event on Sunday 6th March..
A small turnout resulting from competing events such as a 'Grand Final' meant  less being achieved, and with the day heating up it was also cut a little shorter as well. The newly planted trees and shrubs at the South Terrace Bikeway intersection had a part clean up, making it a bit less inviting for snakes to stop and rest. Also rubbish was picked up from the "Railway Turntable" area and the Kapunda Town entrance reviewed for future cleanup. There were plenty of other parts that needed cleaning up and it would be nice if the Council gang would actually mow our streets and clean our gutters as many are looking very shabby at the moment.

Friends of the Heritage Gallery Morning Tea

Wednesday 10th Feb 2016 saw good attendance from 'Friends of the Eudunda Family Heritage Gallery' at the Eudunda Hall to celebrate another birthday for one of Eudunda's 'Hidden Treasures', that being of the volunteers who make up the committee and volunteers who run the Gallery.

Kathy Handke, as the Eudunda Citizen of the Year had the honour of cutting this year's beautiful cake. Kathy was actually quite new to the proceedings as she had never been able to attend due to work. Now that she has 'retired' she can finally see some of the great things happening around Eudunda.

It was announced that some new books were available for sale and others were purchased for the reference library, and a mystery object was voted on.

Marcus Reseigh known for his poetry talents recited some of his new works:
1. Untitled (about the little bat that visits his home)
2. A smell in the air (inspired after the Pinery fires Nov 2015)
3. Symphony of rain
4. Sunrise (Neales Flat)
5. Stuff (a comment on modern stuff)
6. Further Down the Road (A comment on closures to Eudunda Shops and the future)

Some lovely food was shared, along with good fellowship of those who attended.
Well done to the Committee for organising thier own birthday party.

SALA Community Mosaic Tile Project

A Community Art Project started in September 2015 nears completion
After a successful information evening held at the Eudunda Club on the 11th September where local artist Kate Jenkins introduce the idea of making mosaic tiles to decorate the future drinking fountain in the Eudunda Centenary Gardens a group of enthusiastic people took on the project  - see article

Over the next few months those involved studiously made the decorative tiles, and organised the installation of the pipe and plumbing. The photo shows tiles installed on the main drinking fountain. Two other columns are to be completed to complement this one. One will be for children, and the other lower yet will be for animals to drink from.

Riders in the Night - Stop for a break at Eudunda on 400km Long Distance Challenge in 24 hours.

Local cycle enthusiast Luke Herriman spotted a ride on the BikeSA website that was coming through Eudunda so he investigated further, Luke discovered that the riders normally stop at Eudunda for a quick break so he thought he would go talk to them and find out more about their challenge and what sort of gear they used. He found Richard Scheer, Ben Del Fabbro & Mick Sturgess at the 105km mark of thier 400km ride.
