MARCH 2016 NEWSLETTER
Spring is on its way...
Join us tomorrow for our Early Spring Cleanup! It's a great time of year to tackle trash that has blown into odd places over the winter - before vegetation including pesky poison ivy emerge. And while it won't feel like spring this weekend, it will next week! Meet us tomorrow at 9:30 at the State Street entrance - details and logistics on our website!
If this late-season snow is getting you down, scroll through our Winter 2014-2015 Photojournal for a reminder of how beautiful that snow can be. And take a look back at the exciting 80th Anniversary Year in Glen Providence Park, full of special events and special guests! From our article archives, learn how the intriguing Skunk Cabbage (shown above) melts through ice and snow to bloom in winter - it is abundant in the park's wetlands.
Are you following us on Facebook? If not, you may have missed one of the most romantic and stunning photographs we have seen of the park. And two years to the day after we last photographed a Bald Eagle in the park, we saw it again! We also posted links to wonderful nest cams of Bald Eagles in Pennsylvania and Great Horned Owls in Savannah, Georgia - two owlets have hatched! Find it all on our facebook timeline.
Don't forget to mark your calendar for the rest of the year with our baker's dozen 2016 Calendar of Events! We'll have photography, native plants, herpetology, geology, a story time, and more. All of our events are free, family-friendly, and open to the public! There will be registration required for some of our events, so watch for details.
The next few upcoming events are listed below, and you can keep up with us on our website and Facebook!
Enjoy the Park!
