Wicked Opportunities is a unique innovation program, highlighting the shift to a new landscape and economy of transformative invention.

In the Postnormal world of the 21st Century, we have to reframe complexity as the natural order of growth, an empowering tool to be embraced and leveraged for greater opportunity. This in turn calls us to converge the previously siloed disciplines of the Industrial Age, giving birth to the “sweet spots” that reveal undiscovered and creative concepts, finally solving long-standing problems and seizing what were thought to be unreachable aspirations.

Music delivery, consumption, and creation changes have been constants of the music industry for decades.  The evolution has encompassed moves from live to analog formats, then to digital platforms such compact discs and copies, full downloads, and most recently internet streaming. Each shift has altered the income split between delivery intermediaries and the artists.

Ubiquitous internet access coupled with smart phone and tablet sophistication now offer access that previously required premium services or a PC.  What will be the next iteration of content delivery and distribution?  Will it involve music only or incorporate other mediums?  Which new delivery platforms will be developed?  What role might big data play in target marketing and sales?  Will it be easier for new or independent artists to obtain a market for their creations?  Will new intellectual property tensions arise?

Explore these and other facets of Music on Demand with our moderators and participants at this educational event sponsored by the MIT Enterprise Forum of South Florida.
