**SOUP SUPPERS and BOOK STUDY WEDNESDAY AT 5 PM**
From the Vicar

In Preparation for the
Bishop’s Visit

Dear ones

Please join your community at St. Catherine’s this Sunday as we welcome Bishop Hanley for Confirmation and Visitation:

Service schedule:  We will have a single, bilingual service held at 9:30 AM

Bring snacks for a nice coffee hour:  OK, not really a “coffee hour.” But DO bring nice finger foods to share during the forum immediately following the service.

Special Offering for the Bishop’s Discretionary Fund:  It is traditional for a special offering to be collected to support the bishop’s discretionary fund in support of seminarians and other needs. Let’s be intentional and generous!  Write your check before the service, put “Bishop’s Offering” in the memo line. For cash offerings, please use one of the envelopes that will be provided.

Confirmation:  The highlight of the service will be the Confirmation of Dalia Quintana. Dalia is the daughter of Alejandro and Marilú. She has grown up at St. Catherine’s, and on Sunday we all get to celebrate this milestone in her spiritual life.

Bilingual worship service:  We will sing hymns in Spanish or bilingual, and part of the sermon will be in Spanish as well. One of the readings will be read in Spanish, the other in English. The Gospel will either be read twice, or read in Spanish with the English language community following along in the text of the bulletin.

Bishop’s Forum:  Immediately after the service, we will have an hour long forum with the bishop. The topic is “Christian Formation: Our Journey at St. Catherine’s.”  The purpose of having a topic is to focus our conversation on a common theme. Ask the bishop about some of the spiritual insights from his sabbatical last year, and reflect on your personal journey at St. Catherine’s so you can share some highlights in ways that would be supportive for others.

The biennial Bishop’s visitation is a joyful occasion. Let’s make it a wonderful day!

In Christ,
Patricia+

Classical Guitar Concert March 20 at 4 PM

In a new and exciting collaboration, guitarists Adam del Monte and Mak Grgic team up for a fresh and spontaneous duo, with their program “La Buena Vida”, taking you on a journey through Latin American and Spanish landscapes. Brand new arrangements of Guastavino, Granados, Albeniz, traditional Argentinian Tangos and original flamenco compositions by Adam del Monte, cast a renewed spirit into the world of the guitar duo expressed through two dynamic artists, each with their own voice. Conversations With God: learning to pray

A few weeks left of our Lenten program. Do you wonder how to pray? Join us for soup supper and lively discussion at 5:00 PM Wednesdays right after Choir practice. Our Book Study is Prayer: Beginning Conversations with God, by Richard J. Beckman.

It’s never too late to learn how prayer can change your relationship with God.

Reflections On Our Web Page

Essays, poems, photos by members of St.Catherine's. Click here An essay by Tricia Gates Brown: "New"

Holding a friend’s newborn, a sacred ritual becomes more sacred. Marco’s mother rises to exit the sanctuary and fetch a bottle, baby crying, and I gladly offer my services. Settling into my arms, he chugs, and sated, sleeps. All I have to do is bounce and smile and admire his fresh-off-the-shelf beauty: tiny lips iced with milk, a sweep of thick hair, dark eyelashes resting on his cheeks like boughs on a winter mantle. As congregants gather around the altar for Eucharist, I sway to “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” exquisitely picked on a guitar. And when they come my way, I lean to accept the wafer and the wine, before the vicar thumbs a blessing on Marco’s tiny new head.

These days, I am unjaded. All the lustrous, lurid, mystifying moments leave their stamp on a newly tendered heart.... read more here.
