Let's Pray
I don't know what all of you are going through personally or professionally, but I do know that my heart is heavy and I am drawn to pray for numerous people that I love that are suffering these very days. We have been giving Bibles away and preparing for 2nd quarter needs here at UBO, but without prayer to seek the hand of God, to direct our steps, to reveal His will through the Word of God to us and those we serve, and to fight for those we love in the invisible war being waged for their souls and freedom, we are without a winning strategy. Priscilla Shirer, author of Fervent--a book inspired by the movie War Room--says, "Prayer is the portal that brings the power of heaven down to earth. . .It's what He allows us to use to cooperate and partner with Him in the fulfilling of His will." That sounds profoundly important. So for the month of March, while I will be sending out updates in a letter to our regular supporters, we are going to focus on prayer, and we ask you to join us.
"'I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’" Acts 26:17-18
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:10-12
"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ. . .Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should." Colossians 4:2-4
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Philippians 4:4-8
