What a weekend!

It was so beautiful to have you at the Bethel Community Transformation Center this past weekend. Ours is truly an interfaith community center, forged in partnership between Breakers Covenant Church, Temple Beth El, and the larger metro Detroit Jewish community. Rachel Rudman, Program Director at Temple Beth El, had this to say about it on Facebook:

I am grateful for a spiritually intoxicating Shabbaton with Joey Weisenberg at Woodward & Gladstone. We had 45 young adults join together for Kabbalat Shabbat and dinner on Friday evening, and nearly 100 people gather for Havdallah in our former sanctuary on Saturday night… I'm kvelling [bursting with pride] over what we created together.

Let's build upon the beautiful energy of what we created together by making a commitment to restoring this building – full of Jewish heritage and with a diverse and exciting future ahead of it – to its former glory. One concrete way you can help is to support the installation of bunk beds at BCTC! The bunk beds will allow volunteer groups to stay in the building while doing community service projects in and around BCTC and Detroit.

There are two ways you can help:

1) Respond to this email to sign up to volunteer to install the first shipment of bunk beds this Thursday evening, March 3rd. We'll meet 6-9pm at Bethel Community Transformation Center (8801 Woodward Ave, at Gladstone).

and/or

2) Click here to make a donation to help purchase the first 10 bunk beds.

Because of the generous matching support of Rabbi Mark Miller and another donor, a donation of $100 or more will cover the $350 cost of one bunk bed (and two mattresses), and your name will be engraved on the bed frame for future generations to see.

Rebuilding Detroit together, hand in hand,
