Why Church Membership?
Irrelevant. Unbiblical. Exclusivist. Church politics.
These are some of the reasons why many church attenders never make the commitment to church membership. In fact, isn’t church membership simply a result of placing one’s faith in Jesus as the world’s true Lord and Savior?
Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God. —John 1:12
In the New Testament, the call to “belief” in Jesus, is often followed by the command to be “baptized” as a declaration of that new identity. Jesus himself commands this in the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19–20). We’re adopted through Christ and by the Spirit into God the Father’s family.
In Acts, the Church is birthed by the Holy Spirit and its impact on relationships is revolutionary (cf. Acts 2:42–47). Socio-economic classes are flattened, grace and truth define conversations, justice is embodied, spiritual gifts are identified for service and the 59 “one anothers” all assume something: Every follower of Jesus is committed to life in a local church family...

My Friend, Paul—Part 2
One Sunday afternoon, I found Paul laying on the ground and his pants were blood-soaked. We took him to the emergency room, only to find out the best they could do was to treat him, get him stable and give him meds. He had been bleeding in six different places due to a brown recluse spider bite. The wound was three feet long and was attacking his vital organs.
There was no shelter, no safe place for him, and no medical facility to provide on-going care. At one point, we brought Paul home and he lived with us for seven weeks. While living with us, he asked Travis and me to pray with him. He said he wanted what we had—he wanted the peace of God...

Elder Update & Congregational Meeting
Dear Church family,
As you will recall, the Elders have set aside the last four months to hear from you, our EvFree family. I know for some this has seemed like a long time. I would include myself in that category after around 10 meetings in the last month. I want you to know that while this has been extremely hard on the Elders and their families, it has been a labor of love for us. We love this church. As this particular window for input has closed, we are truly seeking to hear from God’s Holy Spirit. After all of this input, we feel quite overwhelmed and inadequate and that’s before reading all of the CHAT survey comments and info I just received in my inbox!
Now it’s time for a family meeting. On Sunday, March 13 at 3:30pm in the Worship Center, we will all gather and the Elders will share some of the many things we have learned. If you consider yourself a part of the EvFree family then it is important that you set aside this time to gather. So after church on the 13th, grab some lunch, take a nap, set your alarm and come to the Worship Center at 3:30pm. You will not want to miss this important meeting.
Fred Ouderkerken
Elder Board Chairman

CHAT Survey Update
Thanks so much to everyone for participating in the Church Health Assessment Survey. We had about one third of the congregation participate and in about 10 days, we will share all the data with you. There are significant high-level findings as well as tons of raw data—all of which will be made available to our members.

The concert will last approximately 70 minutes, and will be appropriate for all ages.
Easter Sunday Sunrise “Hymn Sing”

Beautiful instrumentation will accompany the voices of the worship team and the congregation as we lift our praises to the risen Son!
