Happy Tuesday Spaß Platz Subscribers!

March is here, spring is in the air and life is good. This edition of the Spaß Platz Newsletter includes some of the warmer weather fun we've got planned on the block. We'll be taking a look at our summer volleyball leagues, celebrating the release of a great spring seasonal brew, finalizing your St. Patrick's Day plans and talking Easter brunch. The Essen Haus will also be opening their Stein Club to 100 new half-liter members beginning at their March Stein Club dinner on Wed., March 9th.

Let the "March madness" begin...

O'Essen Haus St. Patrick's Day
Thursday, March 17th
3pm- Bar Close

The Essen Haus is taking a break from its German roots to go Irish for St. Patrick's Day on Thursday, March 17th. Their neighbors at the Come Back In are also joining in on the fun! They will be celebrating with an all-Irish O'Essen Haus St. Patrick's Day menu, live Irish music, green bier and some other St. Pat's drink specials.

This year's menu will feature some traditional favorites like Corned Beef & Cabbage, Irish Stew, Shepherd's Pie and more. Click on the link above to view the complete menu. Dinner is served from 3pm-10pm in both locations. Both the Essen Haus' German menu and the Come Back In's traditional dinner menu will also be available for you to enjoy. In addition to the Irish food, there will be some drink specials to go along with the theme of the evening.

Ohara's Irish Stout and Magner's Pear Cider will both be tapped for the occasion. Fill up a half-liter stein of either for $4.50 and/or make any German import or craft brew tap green - after all, nothing says St. Patrick's Day like a green boot of bier.  Irish Car Bombs, Guinness cans and some St. Pat's cocktails will also be in the mix.

Deep Pool will kick off the FREE Irish music at the Come Back In from 6pm-9pm. This Wisconsin-based band plays some traditional Celtic folk tunes, Irish drinking songs and some foot-stomping favorites. West Wind, another Wisconsin-based group, is next up and will headline the Essen Haus from 9pm-12am. This quartet describes their style as one that "draws from the old and new traditions of Ireland, balancing lilting jigs and driving reels with exuberant dance tunes." Mark those calendars for a fun-filled night packed with Irish spirit.

Come Back In's Bell's Oberon Release Party
Monday, March 21st
6pm-9pm

Nothing says spring in the craft brew world quite like the release of Bell's Oberon. This American wheat ale is brewed with Bell's signature ale yeast and Saaz hops to give it a spicy and fruity character that is perfect for a sunny afternoon. The beer alone is enough reason to celebrate, but we've decided to add a little more fun to the mix.

Bell's Brewery will be here for the official keg tapping and they're bringing some Bell's swag with them. Earn a raffle entry slip with every half-liter purchase of Bell's Oberon or Two Hearted. Then grab a $1 taco (or two) while you wait for your name to be called. You could take home some great Bell's gear! Drawings will take place at 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm. *Must be present to win.

In addition to the merchandise, Bell's will be giving away TWO FREE TICKETS to the Blue Ox bluegrass festival! This three day music festival will take place in Eau Claire, WI from June 9-11. One three day ticket has a normal retail value of $150, so this is quite the steal. The Blue Ox grand prize drawing will take place at 9pm sharp. And since that can be a bit late for a Monday, we won't make you stay for this one. Just make sure to include your name and phone number on the raffle slip.

Can't make it to the release party? We'll have Oberon on tap all summer long!

Essen Haus Easter Brunch Buffet
Sunday, March 27th
10am-3pm

The Essen Haus is bringing back their Easter Brunch Buffet for its second year! Scrambled eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit, potatoes and bacon are among some of the traditional brunch selections that will be returning this time around. They're also bringing back some of last year's favorites like carved prime rib, roast lamb with mint jelly and our create-your-own omelet station. Assorted sides, salad bar selections, bakery items and desserts will also be rotating throughout the day. With over a dozen main course items, there is sure to be something for everyone.

This amazing all-you-can-eat spread is just $21.95 for adults, $10.95 for children ages 6-10 and FREE for children 5 and under. Experience Easter Essen Haus-style by making your reservation TODAY! 608.255.4674

If a buffet isn't quite what you're looking for, make your reservation for the Come Back In instead. They'll be serving their normal weekend breakfast with $3 Bloody Marys, Mimosas & Screwdrivers from 8am-2pm. Click HERE to take a peek at their menu. 608.259.8619

Forhe Ostern!

That will do it for the March edition of the Spaß Platz Newsletter. Next time we'll be taking a look at some of those "save the date" events listed above. We'll be talking craft beer, planning our first annual bacon fest, celebrating spring, taking a musical trip down memory lane and treating Mom to dinner on her special day.

Until next time!
