Excited for Spring on the Garden Island

It's finally March and my oldest son David arrived on Kauai for a long overdue visit. it is so fun exploring the island differently with him. He is a master diver and got me certified last year when he was stationed in Okinawa. I was on a 2 week vacation and had a whirlwind training. This whole time I have never dove here on Kauai. Things always come up with work and life that time gets away from you. So now we are spending a lot of time diving and discovering the island all over again. Sometimes you need to take a step back from life and rediscover what is right in front of you.  David and I had a great time following a few turtles, seeing eels and a lot of reef fish. Just a beautiful day on the Southside at Koloa Landing.
I hope you all had a chance to see the the Eddie Aikau big wave surf competition on Waimea Bay Oahu. This hasn't happened since 2009 and they had some of the biggest waves in 40 years. Those athletes are amazing to watch, a big congratulation to the winner Hawaii boy John John Florence for taking the trophy.
February closed with mixed results mostly due to the lack of new active listings from the same time in 2015. I feel that the uncertainty in the market due to elections etc. is making sellers wait to see what happens. Unfortunately the inventory for single family homes in the affordable price range is VERY limited. Those that hit the market are selling in record time.
The median single family home sold for $650,000
The median condo sold for $345,000
The median vacant land sold for $ 1,300,000
