Spring to Life!...

Well where do we start this month?!... Spring is here and the garden is waking up – though such a mild winter down here has meant parts of it have been awake for some time! While other parts of the country have had a ‘proper’ winter with snow to boot, down here in Cornwall we’ve avoided frosts (in the main), and just enjoyed (or not!) more than our fair share of rain instead.

If your garden is still struggling to ‘dry out’, be patient. Hopefully you've at least managed the first lawn cut of the season by now but if not, don't panic!..Spring weather is starting to reveal itself and we're ramping up for an exciting spring season ahead.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

 Monthly Update...

potted perennials in nursery
1. To do if you haven’t done: Buy and plant summer flowering bulbs, onion and garlic bulbs, and seed potatoes.

2. Spring has sprung and the nursery is working like billio to ensure that all of our spring nursery stock is in tip top condition for the coming season, as well as potting up an unbelievable range of perennials for superb summer colour in the coming months.

3. Granted it’s mainly about the plants in spring, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy everything else Trevena Cross has to offer. Easter is early this year and offers a great excuse to get out and about and treat yourself as well as your garden, perhaps in the newly extended café – with its recently updated menu. As usual, the café will be open over Easter just as the rest of the centre will be.

4. Take advantage of our extended compost range, plant bargains and sundries special offers to put a real spring in your step this spring! If you missed it in the last issue, find out more about our highly recommended ‘professional’ quality composts, by clicking here - and give your new  plants a real boost this spring.

As we swing into spring, some sunnier, drier spells have graced us with their presence…let’s just hope they continue and give us a chance to get in the garden and get on with some jobs.

A few ‘fire-fighting’ jobs may be in order, to deal with the huge amount of rainfall we’ve had this winter, before getting on with the classic spring jobs… From pruning and top dressing to planting and deadheading, there’s a lot to be getting on with for the rest of this month.

winter heathers
Our plant of the month for March is the Winter Heather.

Hardy and colourful, and looking great often before anything else is, the winter heather can find a home in nearly every garden. Easy to grow, low maintenance and great ground cover, in beds and borders, they provide little challenge to gardeners, but loyally perform every time. They also make great container plants in mixed containers and baskets.

Our £2.25 2ltr perennials are still lining the specials aisle, the Bargain Bay still has some real bargains on the go, and we have various other offers throughout the plant sections and in the shop, with plenty of sundries offers to investigate.
