Dear <<First Name>>,
Be strong and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24
The bible is a gift that the Lord gave to us to be a constant encouragement to us. Within it are found the words of life for salvation, instruction in wisdom, points of correction, and words that lift us up in times of grief, sadness, darkness and disorientation.
As I read these words today, at first I thought they were for you. Then I began to read them over and over again until I realized they were for me too. We all constantly pressed in this life and our natural inclination, at least for most of us, is to shrink back. We look at ourselves from a point of weakness. Yet each day, the Word of God breathed by the Holy Spirit shows us who we are and like a coach that runs along side of us reminds us, "You can do this." "You are stronger than you think." "You are not alone in this."
These simple words, "Be strong," remind us that our strength is not found in ourselves but in Him. He will give us the strength to move through every season of life. "When I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Corinthians 2:10). Though our natural strength may fail, the Lord will empower us.
"Let your heart take courage." Courage is the internal choice to face our fears and confront our hardships with a trusting heart, knowing the Lord is standing with us. We can take courage because we are standing side by side with the Lord.
I have no idea what you are facing or what you are tempted to shrink back from today, but I know you can take these words to heart and stand. Open your spiritual ears and hear Him cheering us on. "Be strong!" "Be courageous!" "I am with you!"
