Najvar: Texas Ethics Commission likely to abuse new definition of election advertising
NLF principal attorney Jerad Najvar was consulted by reporter David Rauf of the San Antonio Express-News regarding the Ethics Commission's new definition of "in connection with a campaign," which determines whether a communication crosses the line from an issue ad to an election ad subject to the Election Code.

"Najvar, the lawyer who represents conservative groups, said he expects state regulators to overstep their interpretation of the regulation in a way that is inconsistent with court precedent.

...[Y]ou run the risk of forcing people to avoid talking about public officials when they put out an ad about an issue,” said Najvar."
