Welcome to the SpringE
From the Headmistress
Dear Parents
It was good to see so many of you at Parents' Evening this week in order to see first hand the work children have completed. Thank you for all the positive comments, I shall feed them back to teachers. The strong links between Springfield and parents are vitally important and it is so good to have an opportunity to discuss progress and agree how we can work together on the next steps, whether your child is just two or has reached the grand old age of eleven in Year Six.
Last Friday we had a very enjoyable chocolate Bingo run by the SPA which was very well attended, raising an amazing £453.00. Thank you to all the staff, parents and children who attended, particularly the indefatigable Mr Miller as Willy Wonka.
As I write the children in Years Three to Six are nervously awaiting the start of their English Speaking Board Exams, having prepared talks, learnt poems and readings. I am shall be keeping my fingers crossed for them all.
I am very much looking forward to The Choral Concert in the Cathedral on Tuesday and hope to see many of you there with our Cathedral Choir. Please see the poster around School for details of how to get tickets.
Next week is Science Week across RGS. The children in Years One to Six will be engaged in a number of fun science activities during the week, starting with a science assembly on Monday. I am looking forward to testing any spinners to find the winners made by children and parents at home, we have some good prizes lined up.
Have a restful weekend,
Laura Brown
RGSW becomes an Apple Regional Training Centre
RGS Worcester has launched an Apple Regional Training Centre, which is designed to provide local teachers with free training, expertise and access to best practice to support their use of technology in the classroom. The School is the only centre in the country to operate an Apple Training Centre in both Prep and Senior Schools settings, and the only Independent school in the Region to be awarded this status. Orchestral Day
Last week Mrs McCabe took 14 children to RGS The Grange to join in with an Orchestral Day arranged by Mrs Corrie.
The day consisted of sectional and full rehearsal and culminated in an informal concert to parents. Brass it Up and Stringy Things also performed individual pieces. It was lovely to see our young musicians working so hard and performing with around 40 other musicians.
Mark Making Art
The children in Nursery have been exploring different mark making opportunities. Giorgio investigated the coloured sand making circular shapes and Noah made a lovely painting for the Nursery Art Gallery.
