Sons of Norway May Event
The May Sons of Norway Kong Sverre Lodge’s event will be held on Monday, May 9, at the Community Center, 503 Elm Avenue, Story City. The theme “Patriotic May” will include a program from the 2015 Story County Freedom Flight with Sons of Norway members who were on the flight. Norwegian Constitution Day is the National Day of Norway and is an official national holiday observed on May 17 each year. “Syttende Mai” will be celebrated with a special dessert table. Social time is 6:00 p.m. with a norsk appetizer table and then a catered dinner at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $7 for members and $10 for guests. Sons of Norway events are open to all interested in learning more about Scandinavian heritage and culture and guests are always welcome. For reservations, phone Shirley Frandson (515-733-4482) or Ingrid Place (515-292-7513) by Friday, May 6.
FACE: All-Vocal Rock Concert:
Wednesday, May 11th starting at 7:00 p.m. at Roland Story High School. $15.00 per ticket.
Face is an internationally recognized vocal rock band based out of Boulder, Colorado, bringing a new edge and attitude to the human voice. Using just four singers and a vocal drummer, Face creates a rock-music phenomenon that has to be seen to be believed. No instruments and no special effects -– just five guys.
This is an exciting opportunity for Roland-Story to welcome such a great musical group to the community. The group is being brought as a means to raise money for new middle school robes. Please consider attending the concert that evening!
