Read the 2015-16 Handbook:  SBYSO 2015-16 Handbook
Our February concert and gala was a huge success and a great moment for the SBYSO.  We were thrilled to have Mayor Pete Buttigieg in attendance as well!

Thank you to all of our concert sponsors:  Teachers Credit Union Investment Services, Commodore Homes, Advanced Ophthalmology of Michiana, Crowe Horwath, Hunt Suedhoff Kalamaros, Indiana University-South Bend, and IUSB Raclin School of the Arts.  Many thanks also go out to our fabulous Gala Committee:  Amanda Lucas (chair), Sara Ermeti, and Waylon Peterson.  We also thank JT Thompson, Axiom Brass,  and Del'Shawn Taylor for sharing their talent with our group, and to Chris French Jazz Trio (including SBYSO parents Chris French and Dennis Guillaume) and James Korn for providing music and photography, respectively, for our gala dinner. Finally, special thanks to Daniel Stowe for his help with the A/V portion of our concert.  Thanks also to our parents and students for your dedication and flexibility in preparing for this concert, especially during such a busy weekend.

We are already making plans for next year's gala concert, which will take place Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the DeBartolo Center.  (There will not be a Saturday evening performance next year.)  Mark your calendars!
Unfortunately, we had to cancel the Axiom Brass master class, originally scheduled for 2/25/16, due to IUSB's campus being closed that day.  We are working to reschedule this master class and will be in touch ASAP with more info.  Check your email to find out more!
The SBYSO was featured in the "In the Bend" section of the 2/25/16 issue of the South Bend Tribune, in advance of our gala concert.  (This is in addition to the 2/1/16 article about Give Local).  In case you missed the articles, here are the links:
The June H. Edwards Chamber Music Program for the SBYSO will culminate in a recital on Sunday, March 20 at 7:00pm in the Joshi Performance Hall (Northside Hall, IUSB).  All 10 of our chamber groups will perform. This is a free concert; please invite anyone who you think might like to attend and/or to learn more about the SBYSO.

We thank Mrs. June Edwards for her generosity in making this program available to our students tuition-free; also many thanks to our dedicated chamber coaches and to the Euclid Quartet for sharing their expertise during their two master classes this season.
Do you know anyone who might like to audition for SBYSO?  Auditions will take place Monday-Tuesday, May 16-17, from 5:30-8:30pm, at IUSB.  We will also have auditions in late August or early September.  Please spread the word to any prospective students who might like to join Concert Orchestra or Symphony Orchestra.  More information about auditions, including requirements and online applications, can be found on our website, www.sbyso.org, by clicking "Online Forms."
The SBYSO's 50th anniversary season is coming up soon (2017-18).  We're busy making plans, but would love to hear from you!  Please take a few minutes to complete our brief  SBYSO Alumni Information Form.  Thanks in advance!  Feel free to forward the link to any other SBYSO alums you know.
