Good afternoon PCS Community

In this e-news:

Over the next term, we will be introducing you to our Executive Staff. This week features our Director of Early Childhood Services Mrs Cathy Moon.

INTRODUCING:
Mrs Cathy Moon - Director of Early Childhood Services

My name is Cathy Moon and I am the Director of the Prep and Early Childhood Services at Penrith Christian School. My role involves overseeing the operation of the Early Childhood Service, which includes both the Preschool and Preparatory School class. As our service is the entry point for children and families into our school, the Early Childhood Service forms an integral part of our school community. This year I have been blessed to be able to teach Early Childhood Education and Care to Year 11 students as part of our VET course program. This provides a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate practical learning for senior students, as well as continuing to include current industry best practise and research into our early childhood teaching.

Beyond (Missions) - Japan Team Fundraiser March 2016

Thank you so much for your support of the Japan Team. We raised more than $800 selling snow cones last week. This will help our team of 12 to travel to Japan in July to serve with churches and schools. Your contributions, support and prayers are a great blessing to us.

Special thanks to WestCare for the lend of the machine, as well as Ben and Sam Morley who were amazingly helpful in operating the machine. And, another special thanks to Mr Grant Delbridge who sharpened the blades and made the machine work incredibly faster. We learnt again that, if the axe is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success. (Ecclesiastes 10:10).

Director of Missions

Year 3 Science Fun - March 2016

Year 3 are having fun in Science this term working on a unit called, ‘Feathers, Fur or Leaves?’

Students have been exploring different objects in God’s wonderful world including: leaves, rocks, insects and feathers to see if they are living or non-living; it has been enlightening.

Children have fed the Venus Fly Trap with flies and ants, and are fascinated by the sensitive plant. The leaves of this plant not only recoil when touched, but the branch itself just ‘lies down’!

Years 11 and 12 Seminar Week 2016

The Years 11 and 12 Seminar Week was a wonderful time of challenge, inspiration, motivation and encouragement. We all joined together on the first day for a Study Smart Seminar where the students were given great advice on how to study and prepare for exams.

Year 11 went on to do a day of community service, with the musicians performing for the elderly at Governor Phillip Manor, a group going to Kurrambee School, and a group visiting our very own Prep School. Year 12 spent Wednesday at the Rowing Club setting goals and investigating career paths, and that night we all met at King Henry’s Court for dinner.
