OVCT Membership Meeting Next Thursday

 
When: Thursday, March 17, 11:30am-1:00pm
Where: United Way for Greater Austin, 2000 E. MLK Blvd. Barton Springs & Lady Bird Lake Conference Rooms
Lunch: Order lunch for the meeting here. All lunch orders must be submitted by Tuesday, March 15th, at 5:00pm.
Parking: Parking is available in the United Way parking lot, in addition to street parking available in the area.
Details: At the membership meeting, the Standards of Excellence Committee will introduce a discussion around diversity to identify focus areas for One Voice's Diversity Task Force. Aaron Pottichen from CLS Partners will also provide a brief update on the April 1 launch of One Voice's 403b retirement plan. The full meeting agenda is forthcoming.

Attend the New Philanthropists Speaker Series

The New Philanthropists is hosting a conversation with Michael Smith, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director of Cabinet Affairs for My Brother’s Keeper at the White House.  Mr. Smith will share his experience on leadership, philanthropy and the impact diversity can have on nonprofit board leadership. The keynote will be followed by a Q&A with Mr. Smith and Monica Williams, TNP co-founder, on why it's important to have diverse boards that reflect the demographics, culture and socioeconomic backgrounds in nonprofit leadership. Philanthropitch Austin is a social impact, fast-pitch competition that spotlights some of Austin’s most promising nonprofits and the innovative solutions they bring to local challenges. Participants pitch for financial and human capital to fast-track organizational growth, including more than $100,000 and entrance into the Mission Accelerator, a five-month program designed to fast-track the growth and impact of Austin-area nonprofits.

  • IRS Announces Change in Form 990-N Submission Website Effective February 29

    • The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently announced that it is changing the website it uses to collect information from IRS Form 990-N filers. The Form 990-N is a very brief annual filing that smaller tax-exempt organizations are able to utilize in place of submitting the lengthier Form 990-EZ or Form 990. Read more here
  • New Survey from HHSC Soliciting Feedback from Medicaid Providers on New Provider Management & Enrollment System

    • The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will be implementing a new online Provider Management and Enrollment System (PMES) to ease the administrative burdens of Medicaid enrollment and re-enrollment. As part of PMES development, they are soliciting feedback from Medicaid providers on functionalities and process improvements that they would like to see associated with a new provider enrollment system.   • 2016 State of Texas Children Report Available April 13

    • CPPP’s 2016 State of Texas Children report will identify where disparities exist in Texas' current system and how state and local policies can create opportunities or obstacles to success. The report will focus on raising the bar and closing the gaps for all Texas kids, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, neighborhood or family’s income. They are holding a free informational webinar on June 8th at 12:00 p.m. to share findings from the report. Register for the webinar here
