Only one month to go before we launch our brand new festival for Bedford, June Arts Jam! Look out for a month of shows, workshops, storytelling and interactive events all happening in Bedford this summer.

The Elves and the Shoemaker  

This well known and well loved tale has been re-heeled by Theatre of Widdershins in their own inimitable style. Beautifully crafted set and puppets, sublime music, a kaleidoscope of miniature shoes and a comic mouse all make this show a magical must-see.  

Friday 3rd June 2pm.
Queens Park Community Centre, Bedford. 
Running Time: 55 mins.  
Recommended for ages 3 - 9. 
Free show, advance booking required. 

A Mano (By Hand)  

Brought to the UK direct from Spain especially for June Arts Jam. 

Told with beautifully crafted clay characters and remarkable artistry, A Mano is a touching and life affirming story about love, small failures, a potter’s wheel and four hands at play.  

Thursday 16th June 6.30pm.
The Place Theatre, Bedford. 
Running Time: 50 mins. Tickets £7.

Ear Trumpet 

This playful activity is all about the sound under the ground. You and your family will be guided by four curious characters and become a team of investigators. As part of the fun you will get to choose a unique Ear Trumpet created from converted euphoniums and brass instruments; out sized listening devices which make the barely audible sound loud and clear (as if by magic).

Saturday 11th June.
11am - 1pm (last admission 12.40pm)
2pm - 4pm (last admission 3.40pm)
Castle Mound, Bedford - in the grounds of the Higgins. Suitable for all ages. 
No need to book - just turn up! Drop in activity, stay for as long as you want! 

A Boy and a Bear in a Boat

Adapted from the award-winning novel by Dave Shelton and featuring live music and movement, A Boy and a Bear in a Boat is a funny, thoughtful and thrilling adventure for everyone five years and older.

Saturday 18th June 11.30am & 2.30pm.
Central Library, Bedford. 
Sunday 19th June 11.30am & 2pm
John Bunyan Museum. Running Time: 60 mins.
Recommended for ages 5 - 9.
