Spring: The Season of Hope & Renewal

The spring season brings us many new beginnings: daylight savings time, the spring equinox, flower blossoms, the planting season, and my personal favorite—the start of the Metta Center's Certificate in Nonviolence Studies.

As Metta's director of education, it is a great joy for me to guide participants through this 6-month online learning journey, in which we explore the history, theory, and practice of nonviolence, and how to apply it in daily life.

Our next cohort starts on April 18 and is open to anyone seeking to grow their understanding and practice of nonviolence. Happy Spring, Metta community!

~ Stephanie Knox-Cubbon, Director of Education

Dr. David Ragland, pictured above, is co-founder of the Ferguson-based Truth Telling Project, which aims to transform structural violence and racism through the adaptation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
(TRC) model. While most models of the TRC happen after the violence has ended, the question posed by the creators of the Truth Telling Project was how they could initiate such a process when the violence has not yet stopped. Hence, an emphasis on making space for telling and hearing truth as a means for re-affirming human dignity.

Borrowing from Gandhi, who called his life an “experiment in truth,” Daily Metta will keep you encouraged as you experiment with enlivening nonviolence around you.
