March 2016 news and events!
Good Afternoon,

Happy Almost Spring!  We are in for an early treat with the weather this week and don't need to worry about our 'winter storm' policy for the meeting on Thursday.

Thursday, March 10th, 9 - 10:30 am is our next RCFY Community Networking meeting.  We have a great agenda and hope you can join us.  It is in the community room at Lamprey Health Care on RT 27 in Raymond. Our guest speaker is Maria Reyes, Substance Misuse Prevention Coordinator, Seacoast Public Health Network.

Do you know that in 2015 there were over 412 confirmed deaths in NH alone due to the Opioid crisis?   Do you know that 6% of Raymond High School Students reported trying Heroin once in their life time?  The State of NH average is 2% of High School Students. These numbers are alarming and very concerning.

RCFY and several of our partners including the Raymond School System, Lamprey Health Care, The Raymond Baptist Church, New Life Church, The Raymond Police Dept. and Seacoast Public Health Network have come together to form a Heroin/Drug Task force to address this issue for our community.  We want to invite you, and your extended network, to join us for
Building A Drug Free Home
April 7th, 6:30 pm
The Raymond Baptist Church on RT 27 in Raymond.

This event is FREE and open for all to attend.  Please see the flyer on the right column and hopefully plan to join us.  More details and information will be coming.

Substance misuse has been identified as a public health issue and needs to be treated as such.  This means that we want to encourage people to start talking about this much the same as they would if a family member suffered from heart disease or diabetes.  This will encourage those who need help for themselves to be more comfortable asking for it.  It will help family members and friends so they do not feel shame or embarrassment when looking for support.  Most importantly it will open communication with young people.  Talking about substance misuse, its dangers and risks will help to deter youth from experimenting and hopefully help to reduce use.

Our community cares and we want to help.  Please note the cards on the right hand column to help to address this.

Our 2016 RCFY Discount cards are in, more information is on the right column.  These great little money saving cards are great for our area businesses, community members and RCFY all the way around!  Thank you for your support.

Our 3rd Annual Gala took place this past Saturday night.  A BIG thank you to all who attended.  We still have some 'highest bidders' to connect with but at the moment we are very excited to say we raised $10, 537.  This night was incrediable.  To know we have so many dedicated individuals who support RCFY and our work was very encouraging and inspiring to keep our efforts moving forward.

Thank you to a very generous RCFY member we have a great selection of pictures to look through that captured the evening.  They are available on our Facebook page.  Please check them out and share with others!

Coming soon!  Fun Time Events very generously donated a photo booth to the evening too. Some of these pictures will also be shared very soon.

Please mark your calendars!!  Everyone loved the Atkinson Country Club so much that we have already scheduled our event for next year.  March 11, 2017!!

As a reminder End 68 Hours of Hunger is working in our community to provide food for young people who otherwise would be food deprived over the weekend.  They currently pack 41 backpacks to go home each Friday with Raymond youngsters.  If you are able, or willing, to help with a food donation please contact
RaymondNH@end68hoursofhunger.org or by phone at 603-706-2584.  All donations are appreciated.

Thank you!  The Raymond Coalition for Youth exists on the dedication of our members.  We thank you for being involved, a part of the team and caring.  Please pass this email onto others, encourage them to sign up, get involved, learn more and help make a difference!
