Just Folk has earned a reputation as a destination for quality Americana and Outsider Art and lately we have been drawing more and more international clients who are seeking a museum-like experience while visiting beautiful Santa Barbara.
Our website and presence on 1stDibs and Incollect continue to attract a great deal of attention.
2016 began with Just Folk’s return to the Outsider Art Fair in New York.
The new location at the Metropolitan Pavilion was spacious and welcoming.
We had a very successful opening night. OAF has evolved into an inclusive, eclectic assembly of global self-taught works.

We're looking forward to participating again next year!

Last April, we presented a show of "French Masters" photography which was first in a series of experimental gallery-share exhibitions with Peter Fetterman Gallery, one of the leading purveyors of iconic photography.
Currently, Just Folk and the Fetterman Gallery are exhibiting a collection of powerful photographs by Sebastiao Salgado, the most-renowned and beloved living photographer.

Also, on exhibit is a Cambon/Dial show featuring works by Gerard Cambon, a whimsical genius who assembles found materials into odd vehicles, ferris wheels and wall tableaux, complemented by a tribute series of watercolors by Thornton Dial, a gifted African-American artist who is considered one of the most important self-taught artists of the 20th Century. Dial worked continuously until his recent death in January of this year and created an outstanding body of work.  We are pleased our collection includes several works we procured directly from Tinwood founder, Bill Arnett.

Thornton Dial (b.1928)  Lady Posing in the Trees circa 1990  Watercolor on paper. 33.5" x 41.25"

The next step in our gallery-share will be Just Folk’s Outsider Art 101 in Fetterman’s Bergamot Station gallery in Santa Monica, CA.  The show will run from late June through August.  Just as there is little photography in Santa Barbara; there is little Outsider Art in Los Angeles. We look forward to introducing L.A. art collectors to accomplished, self-taught artists such as Bill Traylor, William Hawkins, Thornton Dial, Martin Ramirez, James Castle and Sam Doyle.  As the date draws nearer, we will be sending an evite for the opening night party of Outsider Art 101.   Stay tuned!
