4P Foods Weekly Harvest

What to expect in your bag...

SPRING EQUINOX
Tonight at 12:30 AM marks the Spring Equinox.  Thank you to all of you members who have stood by our farmers all winter long to support them and our lovely artisanal producers making sauerkraut, pickles, jams, and more to last us through the season.  As the days get longer and the nights get shorter, you can expect to see more baby greens, the first berries, and other tastiness.  If you have specific requests as we move into the spring bounty, be sure to let us know.  We're always happy to share your requests with our family of farms.

SAVE THE DATE - 2 PARTIES!
In case you can't tell, we're getting quite excited for our upcoming events in April.  We would love if you, your friends, family, and neighbors could join us for either or both of our celebrations.
  • Friday, April 22nd from 6:00 - 9:00 PM we are hosting an Earth Day & 4P Birthday Party.  Everyone is invited.  Get your tickets here.
  • Saturday, April 30th, we are co-hosting the annual Squawker Farm Festival at Whiffletree Farm in Warrenton, VA.  Bring a picnic blanket, your appetite, and good cheer.  Great excuse to get out and enjoy the country for a day.  Get your tickets for Squawker here.
SWAP OPTION!
Love rainbow chard but don't love potatoes? No worries! We can swap out any item for more of a different one. Just email bonnie@4pfoods.com with your delivery location and what you don't like, and we'll try our best to accommodate you.   A special request from Bonnie:  When sending your preferences via email, please (*pretty please*) be clear about what you do not want, and what you DO want more of.  Some of the emails she got recently were confusing and hard to decipher.  "More of this, less of that," is a good way to help us help you.  Many thanks!!

HELP?
This one is from Tom:  We found out this week that we are not being given the option to renew our lease at our warehouse... which is a huge challenge since we need to scramble to find a new space.  Thankfully, we managed to score a good deal on a walk-in cooler this week, but now we need to move it.  This may sound strange, but we're asking our members two favors/questions:
1) Does anyone have a large truck and large trailer that would be able to help us move this walk-in cooler sometime this week?
2) Anyone happen to know warehouse space available for lease outside of the beltway in Virginia?
Odd requests, yes, but who better to ask for help than from our members!  Any leads would be  appreciated immensely.  Email tom@4pfoods.com.

It has been a wonderful winter, but three cheers to Spring!

Thanks for all your support.
-Tom & the 4P Foods Team

Don't forget to keep the plastic "Green Bags" that come in your share each week. They are specially made to keep your produce fresh for as long as possible. They can be rinsed and reused so be sure that you don't accidentally throw them in the trash. If your kitchen drawers get too crowded, just throw them back in your 4P Foods tote bag and we will take care of recycling them for you.

A Note from 4P Foods:

Don't forget!!  Cutoff times to skip a bag: Sunday at midnight for Wednesday deliveries, Monday at midnight for Thursday deliveries, and Tuesday at midnight for Friday deliveries.  If you have scheduled upcoming skips and change your membership at all, you will need to reschedule those since it is a new subscription that gets created.  Email or call if you need help.

If you have a produce share AND a protein/dairy share and need to skip a given week, be sure to skip ALL of them when logged into your account page.  Otherwise, the system is designed so you can skip one or the other in a given week.
If you ever get a bruised apple or "sad" greens or anything along those lines - TELL US! It happens in the world of produce, and we need that kind of feedback to tell our farmers if something is wrong, and get you a discount/credit if needed.  That's what we're here for!
Wanting to learn a little more about the best ways to prepare your Grassfed meat each week? Jesse from Wiffletree Farm suggests these two cookbooks for those learning their way around: The Grassfed Gourmet and Long Way on a Little: An Earth Lover's Companion for Enjoying Meat, Pinching Pennies and Living Deliciously.
Peas and love,
