Update Time

I am happy to share the newly acquired gym space has been renovated and we are in the process of buying equipment and getting organized. This once dream is coming together thanks to the faithfulness of so many that made donations in my dad's memory. We can't wait to see the lives that are going to be impacted by this space. The plan is to finish the outdoor exercise area by mid-July and do an official dedication then.

Exercise to give life is the motto this community is learning as they see the impact exercise has had on their lives. This month we had the 5th annual Community 2K where we had over 200 participants of all ages and abilities come run or walk. It was a special day filled with laughter, sweat, and determination. Individuals came together to exercise and support our efforts to decrease the incidence of strokes and diabetes in our communities. Last week we had 60 people show up for one of our weekly exercise classes, so we know the word is getting out and people are learning how they can improve their health while "fe espo" doing sport. March 12th we had our 2nd Annual 20K in Jacmel to raise funds for the clinic and promote exercise in Haiti. This event was a huge success as 50 people made it through the difficult course. Wonderful to see the community getting behind these events that support the work we are doing locally.

In February we had the opportunity to take the children from the special needs class to the beach for the first time. It brought joy to my heart to see the looks on their face as they experienced the ocean for the first time. There was music, laughter, splashing, and pure joy experienced by all.

We continue to learn to work together to meet the adaptive equipment needs of this community. The look of wonder as this little guy starts to learn to hold his head upright and now has an opportunity to safely engage with those around him. Love to see our patients empowered as they accomplish their goals.
