March 16, 2016: Called to the Mundane
View this email in your browser

Dear <<First Name>>,

As part of all their service at the tent, they are to carry the frames of the tabernacle, its crossbars, posts and bases, as well as the posts of the surrounding courtyard with their bases, tent pegs, ropes, all their equipment and everything related to their use. Assign to each man the specific things he is to carry. Numbers 4:31-32

Many think that God would have them be involved with something really exciting, especially if it has to do with ministry. Very few of the Levites, those chosen to serve in the Tabernacle, were assigned to meet with God. The bulk were assigned to simply carry things when God told them it was time to move.

Our greatest calling is actually to the mundane, un-exciting, obscure service that only the Lord sees. Whether we are in our homes, cleaning dishes or changing diapers, or at work doing things that others should be doing, or at church vacuuming or cleaning up, we most glorify God when only He and you know we have simply served.

Let's never get caught up with the lie that God is more interested in things that shine. Our pride is stroked for an instant, but our spirit is sapped from trying to share the glory with God. He deserves all praise and glory. We deserve nothing. In order to become truly useful in His hands for the big things, we must learn to be nobody with the small things.

Like the Merarites, we need to learn to become content with the everyday work of the Kingdom. As we do, He may open wider doors, but none of our acts of service are for us. They are all to glorify the One who has served us with His whole heart.

Here is today's reading.

Wednesday

Love,

Pastor Stuart
