Upcoming ADCET Webinar

Supporting Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Higher Education

ADCET and the Australian Tertiary Education Network on Disability (ATEND), in partnership with the National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education (NCSEHE) are excited to be able to bring you this webinar.
Dr Ceridwen Owen (Senior Lecturer and Program Director (Architecture) in the School of Architecture & Design at the University of Tasmania) is the presenter and will focus on the design of the built environment and how this affects students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), drawing on the results of the self-directed photography study undertaken by students at the University of Tasmania.

Dr Owen’s research was funded through the NCSEHE and the final report will be released by NCSEHE in the lead up to World Autism Day 2016. When: Thursday 7 April, 1pm - 2pm AEST.

This webinar, hosted by ADCET in partnership with The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) and the Australian Tertiary Education Network on Disability (ATEND), was held in March, 2016.

Pathways13 Conference

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN

The 13 bi-annual Pathways conference will be held
Wednesday 30 November - Friday 2 December, 2016 at the Hotel Realm, Canberra.

The ATEND Pathways Conference is a bi-annual event organised by the Australian Tertiary Education Network on Disability (ATEND). The conference brings together disability practitioners, NDCOs and a range of other professional, academic staff and students with disability to identify and remove barriers for people with disability participating in higher education and training.

Pathways 13 centres around the theme; Changes, Challenges and Choice – embracing the future. The Pathways 13 conference will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Pathways in Australia. Exploring the past 25 years will enable us to look back since the first Pathways Conference in Geelong in 1991, and explore Changes in the field of higher education and training for people with disability and look forward to the Challenges and Choices of the future.

Mental Health Program Coordinator - University of Melbourne The Mental Health Program Coordinator role will provide an expanded range of mental health initiatives for students and staff including mental health training programs and workshops, online resources and psychological counselling and management of clients in high risk mental health situations. Disability Adviser - Flinders University The Disability Adviser (DA) co-ordinates specific services that allow students with disabilities to access university study and can provide advocacy on behalf of individual students or on disability issues that affect a number of students. For the period of the contract this position will focus on the delivery of services to students with complex disability and health issues. Disability Support Officer TAFE- Sunshine Coast This position will coordinate the support services for students with a disability to assist them to achieve their individual educational goals.
