As you may already be aware, sound was recently awarded £140,000 through Creative Scotland’s Lottery Funded open funding stream.  We are delighted to have received this crucial piece of funding which will help support the programme for sound festival in 2016 as well as our year-round educational and performance activity from April 2016-March 2018.

It’s encouraging to have our work recognised and valued by the national body for arts funding in Scotland.  However, this is only part of our funding story and we still rely on support from many other organisations and individuals to ensure that sound can deliver its full programme of festival and year round events and educational activities.

Everyone can play their part in supporting us.  Buying tickets and coming along to sound events is the easiest way of course but have you thought about supporting composers to create new work through our soundbytes scheme?

It costs as little as £10/month to support a new commission and we currently have three composers working on new pieces for sound.  We are very happy to report that one of these, Sally Beamish’s new work for clarsach, is already fully funded but there are still soundbytes available for new work for string quartet and harp by Graham Fitkin and 'Sounding the Alarm' by David Fennessy (to be performed by Red Note Ensemble). Our investors are rewarded by knowing that they’ve helped bring a new piece of music into the world - and they’ll also get unique benefits available only to soundbytes supporters.

If you’d like to find out more, please visit our website or call the sound office on 01330 826526 for a chat.
