What a class act.
That sums it up for Craig Johnson.
The Chillicothe Constitution Tribune wrote a very nice article about his visit here. We have a few pictures and stories about him on our blog.
Craig Johnson was our first speaker for the Livingston County Library Lillian DesMarias speaker series. Miss DesMarias was the Livingston County Memorial Library Director from 1970-1980 and left most of her estate to the library; yes a librarian had an "estate." This proves three things: the power of compounding interest, the power of living well within your income (that is, saving), and the importance of good financial planning (because believe me, they have never paid librarians enough for what they do!).
A number of people have been asking what's next. Craig Johnson is a hard act to follow! We are at the early stages of planning and still considering several people with broad appeal and who possess great speaking ability. Rest assured, we will let you know when we have it all pinned down.

FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH

We are celebrating
Financial Literacy in April!
The Livingston County Library is participating in the state-wide DASH for the STASH contest from April 1-30. This is a scavenger hunt for financial information sponsored by the Office of the Missouri Secretary of State and the nonprofit Investor Protection Institute. Participants need to read four posters displayed in the library then answer questions using a QR code at the bottom corner of each poster or go to the listed website. One winner will receive a prize of $1000 for their
retirement account.
