Hi guys!
You like paying people to do something, right? Well, how does this sound?

Whenever I get an order for vinyl, I travel to the nearest Clas Ohlson (this would be in Itäkeskus, which they were smart enough to rename to Itis), purchase some cardboard boxes meant for moving stuff around, take them home and cut them into vinyl shaped pieces with a pair of scissors.

I then go through our cupboards and closets and find a 100 litre trash-bag, cut that into vinyl shaped pieces and slide the vinyl into the resultant bag. There's a lot of pieces of the trash-bag and unusable cardboard bits left out of the whole mess, but it can be fun, too.

Then it's pen-wielding time. A nice little felt-pen will let me sign the vinyl.. After that it's time to put all the moving pieces together and scribble out your address, use as much tape as possible and walk around a kilometer to the K-Citymarket and the Post Office that moved there from separate premises. I whip out my debit card, or if I'm lucky, use metallic circles and rectangular papers and then quickly go home and mark the vinyl sent.

Most of the time it'd be the evening, so the record only starts traveling your way the next day..

Someone could call that whole process bothersome. But ya know what? When I then wake up to an Instagram or a Facebook post that looks like the image below, it was all totally worth it.

So, I can sense that you're just aching to weave your sceptre, raise your voice and say "I command thee to do things for me!" - and, to be honest, your wish is my command, my liege.

So, if you visited Kontula Electronic 2016, you saw this. Yup, got to play in my home town of Kontula! Finally. Also took the time to enjoy what Jukka Mikkola (of the Avaruusromua radio-show fame) was playing at the Kontula Metro station entrance. Here's to hoping 2017 will see me there too, as Esa Ruoho this time.

Speaking of which, do you want to see this kind of a look at your club, venue and or café, museum installation or wotever? Get in touch with booking@lackluster.org, I hear that that guy there is pretty reasonable and has a decent response time.
Did you know this about Lackluster? (Lackluster Factoid #07)

Woah. Sometimes it's easy to come up with the factoids, sometimes you have to really rack your brain. This one was kind of on the borderline - I hadn't really come up with anything for quite some time, then happened to be playing chess at Helsingin Työttömät ry with a friend of mine and I made a move he hadn't seen / heard of ( Castling ) and we got to talkin' about obscure chess rules. Now, they're obscure to us/to me, because I hardly ever play...

Anyway, out it came! Did you ever wonder why "In Passing" (on Lackluster: Wrapping & Wrapping Album Sampler) was called "In Passing"? This all goes back to a half-remembered evening way, way, way back in either end of 2001 or start of 2002. I was playing chess using my grandfather's chess set with an American friend of mine, and he decided to show me a move, which he then took great pains to explain. That move was, in the French language, called En Passant. You can probably guess what that would be called in English.

I stared at the move like a dog that's been shown a card-trick, and then thought, "In Passing", now there's a nice little name. The rest is ancient history.
D'you ever wonder who reads these newsletters? Well, so do I. From my end, seeing a numeric value of opened e-mails out of another numeric value of delivered e-mails does not actually say or mean anything really. Most of these newsletters are read by approx 20% of the people on my mailing list.

Would you like to help out? Then do Tweet, Share and/or Forward (or, heavens above, Google+) this newsletter to your mates and see if the newsletters start coming more regularly...
