The State of Georgia has designated Friday, April 8, as Wear Blue Day. Many State offices and other organizations will be wearing blue to raise awareness of different ways we can all help prevent child abuse.

Free Screening: The Raising of America, Signature Hour: Prevent Child Abuse Georgia will host a free screening of the documentary at Georgia State University's theater, Cinefest.
Date & Time: 4/12/16 at 7:00 p.m.
Description: The Raising of America is a powerful five-part documentary series that explores the importance of investing in early childhood and the future of America. This screening will include the Signature Hour followed by a panel discussion. This event is part of the #GaEarlyEd100 Challenge, a local campaign, made possible through GEEARS and the Blank Foundation, aimed at starting a conversation about what it means to make Georgia a better place for children and families. We want to ramp this conversation up in April, Child Abuse Prevention Month. It is free and open to all individuals, communities and organizations concerned about the healthy development of children.

Webinar: The Protective Factors and Trauma-Informed Care
Date & Time: 4/14/2016, from 3-4 p.m.
Description: This monthly Strengthening Families networking webinar helps connect protective factors to state and local work related to toxic stress, trauma-informed care and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). Participants will learn how to support parents and caregivers caring for children who have been exposed to trauma, from a protective factors perspective; additionally information will be shared on trauma-informed care initiative, and how Be Strong Families uses ACEs as a springboard to talking about the importance of protective factors in their Living the Protective Factors training for parents.
