Bea Coté, IMPACT Founder and Executive Director, will present a workshop during the NCCADV conference on Thursday, May 19th at 1:30 pm—It Takes a Village: Incorporating Batterer Intervention into a Community Coordinated Response. CLICK HERE for conference registration information.
Don't forget that Step Up speakers and trainers are available for presentations, information sessions and training events in the community. Bea Coté recently had the opportunity to speak to two graduate classes of counseling/social work students at UNC-Charlotte about recognizing and addressing DV in a clinical setting.

In another event, Bea spoke to 60 students in two health classes at Rocky River High School. She was joined by Tyra, the student who extended the invitation, and advocate Brandon R., whose younger brother and sister also attend the school. During a role play, not a single person intervened when Brandon grabbed Tyra by the arm and pinned her against a wall. Brandon confronted comments he heard from boys in the class such as, "He must have something she likes!" When leaving the media center, they witnessed an incident in the hallway in which two male students "herded" a small female student toward a boy, who then then towered over her and "playfully" kicked her. This is exactly the kind of situation teens need to understand and be prepared to address and intervene—so keep the invitations coming!
