Lizzy Life Newsletter

I'm Elizabeth—wife to Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome, mom to the four Thompson Crazies, writer of books and blog posts, grocery lists and lists of 13—and I look forward to sharing some of the wacky wonderfulness of family life together.

Big News from Lizzy Life!

You know how sometimes you pray your heart out about something, and you work your tail off for a gazillion years, and you wonder if The Thing is ever going to happen? Welcome to the writing life. I've been writing and working and praying for a break into traditional publishing for thirteen years. Thirteen. Years. After a million pages and ten million prayers, I'm thrilled to announce that in spring, 2017, Barbour Publishing will release—wait for it—When God Says “Wait.”

Yep, my first traditional book deal—the one I’ve waited for, all these years—is about waiting. In God's wonderful "I love you enough to poke a little fun at you and make you eat your words" way, he's teaching me through all of this. I feel humbled and loved and parented by God through the whole crazy process, if that makes sense. I would be grateful for your prayers as I scramble to get it done in time—the deadline is July 1, so it's a quick turnaround time. Eek! But I'm so excited and grateful to have the opportunity to write my brain and heart out these next few months!

The idea behind the book is this: We’re all waiting for something from God: a job, a spouse, a baby, a cure. And the period in between answers can feel like a wasteland where dreams—and faith—go to die. How can the Bible help us navigate our journey through that painful, lonely territory, and come out on the other side with our faith, our joy, and our relationships intact?

Thanks in advance for your prayers, and thank you for being a part of the Lizzy Life ministry!

Change to Newsletter Schedule

Now that Lizzy Life has been trucking along for a year, I’m getting a better handle on what kind of writing schedule I can maintain and still, you know, feed my family and take showers. I always want to keep my promises to you, my readers and friends, and I want to be sure I can provide quality material for you in a timely way! And so . . . moving forward, the Lizzy Life newsletter will appear in your inbox on a quarterly basis, rather than monthly. You'll still find fresh material on Lizzy Life every week, and the quarterly newsletters will continue to offer practical ideas for wrestling Christ into the chaos of daily life, including fun family devotion ideas, YouTube videos, Lizzy Life updates, and freebies.

The Thirteenth Summer

Threats, love, and rock and roll . . . Crystal Waters never expected her 13th summer to go anything like this! Fancy hotels. Epic concerts. A decked-out tour bus. Old rock-and-roll guys who knew her when she wore diapers. The drummer’s son Luke, a.k.a. the cute surfer boy who makes Crystal’s heart skip beats. Dangerous secrets from her father's past. An obsessed stalker, making terrifying threats. Crystal’s thirteenth summer just got very complicated.
