Register Now: Summer Writing Program

Registration for the 2016 Summer Writing Program is now open! You're invited to join us for our renowned colloquium of Kerouac School and visiting faculty who teach workshops, and give lectures and readings, as well as mentor students in one-on-one conferences. With over 50 visiting faculty and guests each year, SWP offers students the opportunity to be in dialogue with a community of writers. Participants work in daily contact with some of the most accomplished and provocative writers of our time, meeting individually and in small workshops. The Summer Writing Program is a four-week-long convocation of students, poets, fiction writers, scholars, translators, performance artists, activists, Buddhist teachers, musicians, printers, editors and others working in small press publishing. Learn more and register today!

Andrew Peterson, MFA '06, writes "Pleased to announce my third book of poems Anonymous Bouquet was just published by Spuyten Duyvil Press. Some poems from this book first appeared in literary journals such as Fanzine, Fact-Simile's Ash Anthology, Offending Adam, and James Franco Review." Learn more about Peterson's book.

Jeremy Laverdure, BA '96, was interviewed in Pilates Glossy International discussing how to "Approach Pilates as a practice." He is working with Cara Reeser in the ongoing process of developing an educational program called Movement Science Made Simple. Laverdure is co-owner of Sixth Street Pilates, a decade-old boutique Pilates studio in New York City’s East Village. While he continues to enjoy working with all types of client, Jeremy has developed a special interest in teaching Pilates and Yoga instructors, bringing a broad-based movement studies approach to these disciplines. Jeremy is also a student in Hunter College’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and will graduate in 2016.

Congratulations to John Bass, MA '92, who passed both the written and clinical vignette exams and is now a LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) in California. He provided mental health disaster response to individual and families directly effected by the Northern California Valley Fires through work with Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services- Children's Specialized Services.

Mark Williams, MA '96, was profiled in The Boulder Weekly where he discussed harnessing the power of the brain. Williams shares, "When someone is training, their mind needs to take them to the next level as well as their body. When I go run I’m not just running for the physical, I am also dialing in my concentration level so I am working my mind as well as my body. As you reach your max, your mind wants to check out and not deal with the pain. When you learn the basic meditation point awareness of where your mind is and make that second nature, then I gain the capacity to make [my body] take me where I want to be." Read the full feature

Lillian Myers, BFA '12, is working with Performers Without Borders, empowering at-risk youth through performance and art education. You can read more about Myers' work and check out her blog online
