Resource Development:
Grants –
Viva Village has submitted applications for two different local grants – one from Southminster Presbyterian Church and the other from the City of Beaverton. We will hear back about these later this Spring. The team is also exploring other local grant possibilities.
Many thanks to Don Wolf and Larry Brown on the Resource Development Team for their work in making these happen.
Chamber of Commerce –
Viva Village will very soon be joining the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce. We are excited about this new way to connect with the Beaverton community. It will give us access to interested businesses. As we provide value to the community, they can be valuable to Viva Village.
We are also approaching other business alliances in the area – Raleigh Hills Business Association and Cedar Hills Business Association, as well as connecting with BESThq and BNI, both business networking groups.

On Friday, March 25, The Oregonian carried a great column by Samantha Swindler  about Eastside Village, our sister Village that opened for services last October. The story was on page 2!

Business Outreach
1) Business Contact Data – Are you detailed-oriented? A volunteer is needed to help maintain an Excel spreadsheet with our business contacts.
2) Business Referrals from Nextdoor.com – Do you use this handy  neighborhood means of communication? Help Viva Village by gathering business referral information from your own neighborhood's Nextdoor.com. The information you provide will help our Resource Development and Marketing teams make valuable community business connections.

Events
EVERGREENS PLUS: A GARDENING SUCCESS!
 On Saturday, March 19, we had a real treat with Evergreens Plus: A Gardening Event. The panel of four gardeners – Barbara Blossom Ashmun, Mike Snyder, Doug Barrager, and Diana Lamb – shared their extensive knowledge with us and answered the many questions posed by the audience.
Following the main presentation, Bruna McBride demonstrated some nifty garden tools and gadgets that make gardening easier, and even more enjoyable.

Tualatin Hills Nature Park

Vine Maple and Trillium Loop Trails
Our guide will be Margaret Tusko, a docent at the Nature Center there.
Park in the lot at 15655 SW Millikan Way (green arrow) and meet in the Visitor Center at 10 a.m.
1) The red paved trail is safest for those with canes and wheelchairs – you will take the Vine Maple Trail with our guide to the Bridge at Cedar Mill Creek. Enjoy the wetlands there and turn around to retrace your steps for a fresh view on the way back to the Visitor Center for about a one mile hike.
2) Those that can handle a softer, narrower trail with occasional tree roots can take the blue dashed set of trails back. First take the Vine Maple Trail to the bridge with our group and then go back on the Elliot Trail to the Big Fir, to the Trillium Loop, to the Big Fir, to the Ponderosa Loop connector, to the Vine Maple for a 2 mile hike. Look for the 3-pointed white Trillium flowers that bloom in April and the "Winds of Change" vista. Sorry, no dogs this time.
