Walk or Run to End Hunger!
The Human Race
Help us raise our goal of $5,000 this Spring and
run with us to end hunger on May 7th!
Matching funds are available from the David and Lucille Packard Foundation for every organization that raises over $1,000.
Help us raise $2,500 and match those funds for a total of $5000!
The Human Race is Saturday, May 7th, on beautiful West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz. Over 100 organizations in the county will participate to run, walk, and celebrate their supporters! The Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County hosts the event and collects funds from supporters who donate to the organization of their choice.
The official campaign runs from March 26- May 7. We are recruiting walkers, runners and pledge-gatherers to raise funds for us.
Every runner/ walker who donates or raises over $35 will receive a brand new PVLF t-shirt to wear with us on race day!
Support can be given online, offline, or by running with us at the event. For more information, please contact Colleen at
831-319-4571 or visit: humanracesc.org.
Can’t make the race? No problem! Anyone can join in on the action and donate to Loaves and Fishes through the Santa Cruz County Volunteer Center’s Human Race website! The online donation collection runs from March -26th until race day on May 7th.
We hope to see you there!

8th Graders Raise Funds
for PVLF
This spring, students from Ceiba College Prep Academy are fundraising to support Loaves and Fishes in the Human Race!
About a dozen 6th-8th grade students have begun collecting Human Race donations from their friends, families, neighbors, and sports groups, and have begun selling snacks to their school’s student body. Fueled by their passions for hunger alleviation, the students' goals are to raise funds to support PVLF's efforts in the Human Race, while gaining valuable lessons in community involvement, leadership, creative planning, and teamwork. "They are a great group who are enthusiastic about volunteering and caring towards others," says Karen Cortez, a teacher in Ceiba's Community Service Club. "They are having a blast helping out their community through fun and creative ways."
We are excited to run along side these community champions who will be joining us for race day on May 7th!

Laundry Volunteer Needed
Looking for a new way to get involved with Loaves and Fishes? We are in need of laundry helpers on Wednesdays and Fridays! This is a great way to lend a LOT of help in a short amount of time. We are looking for someone who can pick up our laundry to wash and drop off in the same or following day. We are in close proximity to a laundromat and will provide soap and cash for laundromat machines.
