Another angle to the upcoming student body vote on a new $19m West Texas A&M FB stadium. Worries have surfaced because current students on a guaranteed tuition plan would be approving a fee increase for future students. A requested exemption to change the tuition plan has been denied by TAMU System lawyers. Prez O’Brien has said outside funding for the stadium project will begin if the vote passes, “If we went out and raised money and students vote no, what do we do with the money we’ve raised? ... That’s getting the cart before the horse." - link
Augustana beat Lincoln Memorial 90-81 before an energetic crown at Dr. Pepper Arena to capture the school's first ever MBB national championship. S-A Richter was obviously overjoyed, "I don’t know if there is one word to do it justice, to be honest, but I am just so happy to be a part of this team and a part of the coaching staff. We thank the fans for coming out. Whether it was Tarleton, Western Oregon or today, we felt we were at home. We are extremely happy to be in this situation.”" - link
Augustana fans made their presence known at the Elite Eight this past week as the Vikings marched toward a national championship. HC Billeter echoed Richter's sentiments on the fan support, "Our crowd's been great both nights. ... They were amazing, even tonight. They were into it, they were looking for things to cheer, they were doing a great job." - link
Despite the loss in the national championship game, Lincoln Memorial MBB HC Schertz was deeply appreciative of the fan support they received this past weekend as well, "I'm so proud of our fans, coming all the way from Tennessee out here in droves. Not only were they here, but they were loud and supportive. We were outnumbered significantly, but they did a great job. It was a great atmosphere for a championship game." - link
Prior to the championship game, Lincoln Memorial Prez Dawson and SAC rival Carson Newman AD Morgan talked about the benefits to be reaped from a deep NCAA run, including the positives for the entire conference in terms of national exposure and enrollment (CNU's enrollment has jumped 4% in the past few years, with FB success credited as one of the drivers). - link
Emporia State FB released their 2016 schedule. The Hornets' home and season opener on their new turf surface (being installed as we speak) at Welch Stadium will be a rematch of the 2015 nat’l quarterfinal vs defending national champ Northwest Missouri State. - link

GSC nat’l SAAC rep Robles talks about overcoming her debilitating stutter, why she chose Valdosta State and her campus leadership activities. Robles on VSU women's soccer coach Heinz, "She couldn’t have been more gracious and welcoming for my family and I as we made the short visit. We had a great conversation with her, not only about soccer but everything else I was involved in. Out of all the coaches I met on that trip, she stood out to me the most because when I talked to her I didn’t feel like a recruit." - link

Local news profile of Washburn baseball S-A Bryant, who talks about his comeback from a freak accident that led to a 360-degree fractured skull and three weeks in a coma, and doctors saying he’d likely never play again. Alderson Broaddus MLAX freshman S-A Varela is also a member of the fledgling French National Team, which was started less than a decade ago. Varela on what it means to represent France, "It's just crazy to think about being able to represent an entire country through a sport that is still growing and developing. ... Former Adams State S-A Berian, who dropped out of school and worked at McDonald’s at one point, won the 800-meter race at the IAAF world indoor championships this past weekend. ASU HC Martin on Berian's immense talent, "He’s the most talented individual I’ve ever coached. He can not only make the Olympics but be a medalist.” - link
