Learning Fair
Each year kindergarten through grade 12 students host a Learning Fair and though the format has changed somewhat throughout the years, the energy and excitement of the students to showcase their projects hasn't.
Kindergarten through grade 3 picked different themes in their classrooms and did corresponding research. They spent weeks decorating their classrooms and putting together presentations on their topics. The kindergartners were professors at STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) University, the 1st grade were out of this world and the 2nd and 3rd grade presented projects from under the sea and taught us how to preserve our delicate coral reefs. Both the 4th and 5th grade presented in the garden with their projects on plants. Check out this stop motion video from 5th grader, Violet.
Middle and Upper School students chose their projects based upon their interim selection. The projects ranged from PowerPoints to selling points. The projects were varied and unique and it was exciting to see the personalities of each of the students shine through their presentations.
It was a great end to a week that engaged students outside the classroom and for many, provided experiences and opportunities they might never have had otherwise.
