Practicing Resurrection
The Easter season invites us to deepen our capacity to “practice Resurrection.†This week, I invite you to continue reflecting on last Sunday’s Gospel. Just like the women “remembered†the words of Jesus, ponder what you are called to remember today. Enjoy the following quotes that speak of Resurrection and living in the promise of Easter:
“Life is this simple: we are living in a world that is absolutely transparent and the divine is shining through it all the time. This is not just a nice story or a fable, it is true.†Thomas Merton
“So, friends, every day do something that won't compute...Give your approval to all you cannot understand...Ask the questions that have no answers. Put your faith in two inches of humus that will build under the trees every thousand years...Laugh. Be joyful though you have considered all the facts....Practice resurrection.â€
― Wendell Berry, The Country of Marriage
“For me the most radical demand of Christian faith lies in summoning the courage to say yes to the present risenness of Jesus Christ.â€
― Brennan Manning, Abba's Child: The Cry of the Heart for Intimate Belonging
The Resurrection is not a single event, but a loosening of God's power and light into the earth and history that continues to alter all things, infusing them with the grace and power of God's own holiness. It is as though a door was opened, and what poured out will never be stopped, and that door cannot be closed.â€
― Megan McKenna, And Morning Came: Scriptures of the Resurrection
“Decide to be happy
Render others happy
Proclaim your joy
Love passionately your miraculous life
Do not listen to promises
Do not wait for a better world
Be grateful for every moment of life
Switch on and keep on the positive buttons in yourself,
those marked
optimism,
serenity,
confidence,
positive thinking,
love,
Pray and thank God every day
Meditate
Smile
Laugh
Whistle
Sing
Dance
Look with fascination at everything
Fill your lungs and heart with liberty
Be yourself fully and immensely
Act like a king unto Death
Feel God in your body, mind, heart, and soul
And be convinced of
eternal life and resurrection.â€

Godly Play Sunday at 6 PM
This week the children will learn about Communion as they explore World Communion Sunday. Godly Play presents our faith to children with hands on storytelling. Janet Robinson is the lead story teller and Jaqueline Pérez assists. Bring children to Godly Play while you attend the 6:00 PM bi-lingual service.

New book by Tricia Gates Brown
Just out "Season of Wonder."
After experiencing a devastating loss, writer Tricia Gates Brown could no longer write. Seven months later, as she gathered strength, she set out composing short pieces simply as writing practice. Yet the narrative that tumbled out was a surprise. An arc of losing and finding. A journey of self-discovery and wonder.
Available now at Cloud and Leaf in Manzanita.
I could barely put this down on first read even as I wished to savor each reflection.
We have many authors and artists at St.Catherine's. Read some of their work on our website click here.
