Books for keeps
The library is working in partnership with United Way of Greater Topeka to bring an exciting new program for young children in Shawnee County. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library puts books into children’s mailboxes each month.
The Dollywood Foundation pays for the books and the local community pays for the postage (about $25 per child per year) to mail the books to the homes. The program will start as soon as enough funds are collected to sustain the program for our 0 to 5-year-olds.
If you are interested in becoming a partner in supporting one or several children, donate today.
A library card for every kindergartner
Harder IREAD Kindergarten program is a new initiative providing kindergartners in Shawnee County their first library card. The Foundation is working to fund the program named to honor Bob Harder, former board trustee and Topeka community leader.
