Good afternoon PCS Community

In this e-news:

Over the next term, we will be introducing you to our Executive Staff. This week features our Head of Middle School, Mrs Janis Jackson.

INTRODUCING: Mrs Janis Jackson - Head of Middle school

Surprisingly, as the time has travelled so quickly, I have been at PCS for nearly 18 years. Previously I have worked in Department schools such as East Hills Girls High, Kingswood and Jamison High.

I have 3 children who are now adults and who completed their schooling in a Christian school close to our home. My time away from school is spread between a love of a family and activities such as swimming, textiles arts, cooking and more recently setting up a coop for 4 chickens who now reside in my yard, with the promise of fresh eggs in the future.

Learning Plaza Opening

On Thursday 17 March we had an opening night for our new Learning Plaza hosted by the Mathematics Department.

On the evening we talked about and demonstrated some of the new 21st Century Learning strategies that are enabled by the flexible learning space. Parents and students had a great time talking about Mathematics and trying out some of the more interactive learning activities. It was a great chance to experience the way learning has changed since many parents were at school themselves.

Year 4 in the Classroom

Year 4 have enjoyed learning in their brand-new 21st Century classrooms. The students are loving the stadium seating, standing and sitting workspaces in modern comfort.

We have recently introduced ‘Dash’, the friendly robot, to assist in teaching coding to the students. We are so grateful for all the new facilities we have been blessed with.

Middle School on a Mission

Have you recently cleaned out your wardrobe or looking for a good excuse to do so? We can help with that!

‘Middle School on a Mission’ group is organising a second-hand clothes collection to support the start of a new Op Shop in the Northern Territory. Profit from this shop will be used to kick-start new businesses from the Arts Centre. (Their sewing group is also in need of fabric or sewing patterns, if you have any of these items to donate that would also be appreciated.)

If you or your family have good quality summer clothes at home that you don’t need, please bring all donations to Reception before 30 March.

Kindy Easter Hat Parade

On Wednesday 23rd March, Kindergarten families joined their children at school to celebrate Easter at a colourful Easter Hat Parade. The creations were wonderful and the children paraded with pride. We had photos of groups of hats with eggs, hats with grass for rabbits and hats with chickens. It was fantastic to see so many hats displaying the true message of Easter and celebrating what Jesus has done for us all. A big thankyou to all the parents who organised such amazing hats for their children.
