Call for Speakers for MSHIMA 2016 Annual Meeting

The MSHIMA board recently released the agenda for the 2016 meeting. Part of the delay is that they are searching hard for CPT speakers. In particular, they wish to issue a â€œcall for speakersâ€ for CPT coding for cardiovascular procedures. If you are knowledgeable in this area and wish to be considered, please email us at mshima@mshima.org.

Health Information Professionals Week is a showcase for the thousands of health information management (HIM) professionals who perform their duties masterfully throughout the year. Take a moment and celebrate HIP Week in your facility. Take photos of your celebration and e-mail them to us at mshima@mshima.org. We will feature them in our next newsletter!

ICD-10 Member Survey

MSHIMA wants to check our memberâ€™s actual coding productivity pulse. Are you being held accountable to your old ICD-9 productivity standards? Do you have new ICD-10 productivity standards? What are those standards? Do the standards differ by EMR? And last but not least, what do YOU think the standards should be?

This 13-question survey should only take minutes to complete, but the information will be very valuable for planning future trainings and workshops. Plus, it will help MSHIMA representatives to properly convey the stateâ€™s needs and challenges to AHIMA.

MSHIMA ICD-10 Roundtable Question and Answer Session

Believe it or not, we are over 150 Days into ICD-10. Howâ€™s it going? What specific coding questions are you having? The Mississippi Health Information Management Association would like to hear from you.

We would like you to e-mail the MSHIMA Coding Education committee your coding questions or scenarios that you are experiencing to mshima@mshima.org. On Thursday, March 31, 2016 at noon, we will offer a One-Hour Coding Roundtable Webinar and review all submitted questions. This will be an opportunity to learn from some of Mississippiâ€™s top HIM professionals.

Agenda Released!

Register Today for the MSHIMA Annual Meeting

The conference will be held at the beautiful Jackson Marriott on June 21-24, 2016. The theme of this conference is â€œBoots on the Ground,â€ which is reflective of the many different types of boots (or shoes) that Health Information Professionals must wear in their field. The agenda has been released in preliminary form for members to view and use for registration.
