Seeking Wisdom as Silver
|

Dear <<First Name>>,
In the book of Proverbs, we read that wisdom is both a God-given gift and the fruit of an energetic search. "Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding." (Proverbs 2:3-6)
Wisdom could only come from the Bible. As believers, God imparts wisdom to us through His word. To have the same mind, to think as God would think is wisdom. It is a gift. Our own efforts cannot create His wisdom, but as we walk in His ways, we discover it. God is very direct to tell us how to find wisdom and He places in our hands the treasure map that leads to it. But we must earnestly seek it as it takes effort and the road to it requires our full devotion.
When we look at the talents God has gifted us with, let's remember to be wise by listening to His knowledge and understanding what it is He wants for us. As we find ourselves reading and writing this week, we can look to God to help us develop all aspects of wisdom in our lives. These short articles may inspire you to think a bit differently:

The Little Woodsman and His Dog Caesar

This title always reminds us of the account of Joseph and his brothers in the book of Genesis. In The Little Woodsman and His Dog Caesar by Mary M. Sherwood, we read about a similar tragedy like that of Joseph. A young brother is left in the woods, abandoned by his brothers, and left to fend for himself in the dark and deep woods. Although his brothers intended evil upon him, God in His mercy had another plan for little William and it is through his perilous affliction that we are able to see his hope revealed, for God's future plans are always sure.
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)
