Carbon Removal News
There have been a number of exciting updates for carbon removal over the past few months. For one, the United States Department of Energy has announced its intention to increase R&D support for innovative carbon capture from power plants and the beneficial use of captured carbon. The program aims to use research on utilization to provide early markets for those deploying carbon capture technology and to help offset costs of capture.
In addition, NERC, the National Environment Research Council of the United Kingdom, announced the creation of a joint research program on a broad portfolio of carbon removal solutions. The group will investigate the potential of and key questions around the economic, ethical, environmental, and governance concerns around a number of carbon removal solutions. They're hosting a workshop at the end of April to kick off the program.
