Paul Rebein MC's MLK Jr. Awards Banquet

Attorney Paul Rebein was honored to Co-MC the 31st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Drum Major for Justice Awards Banquet. It was an evening of reflection and celebration. Hosted by The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday and Legacy Association, Inc, The National Christian League of Councils, The Florida Commemorative Celebrations Commission and the Florida Gulf of St. Petersburg Multi-Cultural MLK EXPO, the event took place at the Hilton in downtown St. Petersburg on Friday, January 15th.

RBR also sponsored the National MLK Jr. Parade in St. Petersburg, FL. The parade is 1.5 miles long through downtown St. Pete. RBR had a float, throwing candy and over 10,000 beads along the parade route.

One For the Record Books

We don’t take criminal cases at RBR.  That’s what we tell people who call.  Except this time we did.  A lawyer in Wichita called with a request.  A well-respected dentist from Wichita was charged with battery to a child arising out of a dental procedure performed in Dodge City.  He wanted to clear his name.  I told him that I would meet with Dr. Chen and refer him to a good criminal lawyer.  But once I met Dr. Chen, his wife Rachael and his son, Freddy, I wanted to take their case.  My partner Aaron Kite readily agreed and we began to prepare our defense.  Along the way, we got to know this extraordinary family who immigrated to the US from Communist China.  Dr. Chen had served in both the US army and navy.  His daughter is a graduate of MIT and a Navy officer.  Convinced of his innocence, I nonetheless wondered whether he would entrust his career to a lawyer he didn’t know and a court system he did not quite understand.  But together we stood before a jury in Ford County.  Our team which not only included Aaron and myself, but also our legal assistants Ash-Leigh Drake and Jenny Durrant, my wife Bernice Rebein and our jury consultant Mark Vierthaler, put on our defense of this good man.  The jury was out 5 minutes and returned a verdict of acquittal.  I am told this is a record for Ford County.

St. Petersburg Open House

We were excited to host the official grand opening for our St. Petersburg office in February. Over 70 people stopped by our new digs and helped us celebrate our new location with tasty bites and party libations.

"It was a wonderful night to celebrate our new office," said Paul Rebein. "We're excited to be a part of the St. Petersburg community."

Bring Your Law Suit 2016

Attorney David Rebein recently participated in the Kansas Association of Justice (KsAJ) Service Project, Bring Your Law Suit 2016. Attendees were asked to bring donations of suits, clothing, and personal and household products to the Village Church Food Pantry and Clothes Closet in Kansas City. The pantry offers a safe, friendly environment that maintains the dignity of each person. "This was an inspiring project," said Rebein. "I look forward to the service project every year."

Rebein also attended the KsAJ and Legacy of Justice Foundation Board meetings that were held in conjunction with the service project.

WELCOME HENRY JOSEPH!

Attorney Chelsie M. Lamie, and her husband, David Alfonso, welcomed their second child, Henry Joseph Alfonso, on January 26, 2016.  Henry entered the world exactly two years and three days after big brother, Michael.  Henry weighed seven pounds, nine ounces and was twenty inches in length.  Henry, who is now two months old, has mastered rolling over and is already starting to try to crawl.

Welcome to the RBR family, Henry!

REGENTS SUPPORT KANSAS TEAMS

The Rebein's Take On Gasparilla 2016

Attorney Paul Rebein and his wife Lori, took part in the 2016 Gasparilla festivities in January. As members of the Spirit of Cigar City Krewe, they celebrate this 100-year-old tradition of the Cuban immigrants who founded Ybor City and it's famous cigar factories. Every year, Jose Gasparilla appears at the south end of Hillborough Bay to reenact the invasion of the mythical pirate and his raucous krewe. The festivities continue with the pirates taking to the streets of Tampa for the spirited parades and festivals.

Is that
Aaron Trump?

Attorney Aaron Kite was trying out a new look for Super Tuesday. Because if you can pull off this hair style, you can do anything!

As Trump would say, 'A complex world requires complex hair.'

St. Patty's Day Banquet

The Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce holds an Annual Banquet in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. RBR sponsored a table at the event in March, where an estimated 500 people from the community were in attendance. "We were excited to be a part of this fun event," said David Rebein. "We enjoy giving back to this great community."
